WIP - Princess Leia Stage III

Getting close to finished now. The blotchy acrylic underpainting is now mostly covered by layers of oil. The background now has a golden glow, achieved by mixing ochre with lemon yellow with a lot of linseed oil, with a lighter "halo" around the seated figure and darker edges with a tiny bit of red and brown. Some of the base colour can still be seen in the robe and the hands (which I have barely touched on yet). The pale yellow highlights on the upper chest and shoulders make them almost glow, and the contrast with the pale blues makes the robe seem brighter white than it would otherwise.

The face is getting more detailed, but I'm not satisfied with it just yet - there's something just slightly off with the eyes, the curve of the nose and probably the lips. The expression is less cheeky than what I see in the original photo.

Once I get the face as close to perfect as I can, I am considering adding a circular disc around the back of her head, like the halos in medieval Christian paintings. It will contain Aurebesh letters and proclaim her "Leia, Daughter of Bail of House Organa" or something of the sort. I'm not 100% sold on the idea yet - we'll see what happens.
